As the capabilities of autonomous space systems and satellites continue to increase, more complex architectures are needed to manage mission requirements. Cost-effectively building space systems that can handle a range of functions, from image analysis and processing, autonomous operations, remote sensing and data interpretation to communication and signal processing, requires electronics that are accessible, quick to market and most importantly, proven to reliably operate in space applications.
By unifying the growing digital infrastructure of embedded electronics and removing connectivity, latency and computing limitations, AI-enabled systems are facilitating edge computing that is changing the way data is processed and analyzed in space. In addition to a review of proven use cases of AI-enabled systems in space, this session outlines how COTS (commercial-off-the-shelf) systems offer scalability and cost-efficiency benefits that help system designers harness AI and edge computing to enhance space applications.
