Dr. Joe Bravman, Chief Engineer

Dr. Joseph S. Bravman joined Lynk in 2018 and serves as its Chief Engineer. Lynk is a pioneer in developing, building, launching and operating D2D pLEO satellites that serve as “cell towers in space” to connect unmodified cellular devices.
In 2012 he co-founded Omnispace, LLC, and until 2016 served as its CEO. He is also the founder of Omnisat, LLC, a satellite data transmission services and consulting company that leased satellite capacity to deliver high value digital content over most of Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Dr. Bravman previously held several positions at Orbital Science Corporation (now Northrop Grumman). During his career at Orbital he served as SVP/Corporate Development, Corporate Chief Engineer, Senior Vice President of Orbital’s Advanced Systems Group, and Senior Vice President, Engineering and Operations. In these roles Dr. Bravman executed several remote sensing and communications satellite programs and managed the redesign and construction of the ORBCOMM satellite constellation.
Prior to Orbital’s acquisition of Fairchild Space and Defence Corporation in 1994, Dr. Bravman was Corporate Executive Vice President of Fairchild, and President of its Defense Electronics and Communications division.
Dr. Bravman received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from MIT and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Cornell University. He was granted 3 US patents.
Dr. Bravman serves on several advisory Boards including NDIA, and has been an advisor to Cornell’s student nano-satellite projects, and a member of the Maryland High-Technology Council Board, the Maryland Angels Council investment group, NSTAC IES, and a US representative to the ITU’s WRC. He has lectured and published on numerous technical and business topics.
