As the Director of Technology of the NorthStar US Enterprise, Will has led the team to deliver key contracts to USG including numerous Darpa’s Space-WATCH programs that served to validate our patented concept of operations (CONOPS). NorthStar has delivered the onset of an always “on” Space Domain Awareness (SDA) service to the US Space Force.
Will is part of the team that provides 24/7 anomaly detection and space operations support for the US Space Forces’ Joint Commercial Operations (JCO) in the meridian and pacific regions. This team is driving NorthStar’s artificial intelligence and automation technology roadmap to enable near-real-time services to existing clients, including the rapid processing of over 80 million space-based images with the aim of eliminating SDA gaps.
Prior to joining NorthStar’s U.S. team, Will served as the Entrepreneur in Residence at the Menlo Park, California-based venture capital firm Noosphere Ventures. Will also founded and served as Chief Technology Officer of start-up synthetic aperture radar company Capella Space. Capella has launched seven functional SAR satellites to date.
While a Ph.D. candidate research assistant to Dr. Ivan Linscott in radar remote sensing at Stanford University, Will supported the New Horizons Mission to Pluto by investigating radio occultation and the effect of interplanetary media upon RF signal propagation. He also generated, analyzed, and simulated data from the radio science experiment (REX) onboard the spacecraft to include Pluto fly-by mission rehearsals performed at John’s Hopkins Applied Physics laboratory.
Will holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering obtained while a Ph.D. candidate in
Professor Zebker’s Radar Remote Sensing Group. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Bucknell University where he concurrently was graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studie.
